Who is behind Heapost?
Wella, my name is Diego Filippozzi!
I’m 35 years old, I was born and raised in Belgium, but my family is Italian.
I’m multilingual (fluent in English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese) and I have a degree in International Business.
Heapost was born after almost 5 years of a nomadic life spent on the Australian roads, sleeping in my car, and working very hard in critical sectors, mainly in agriculture, to renew my Visa but to support the Australian economy.
Where does Heapost come from?
Heapost is the result of an idea that hatched in my mind since I landed in Australia in September 2018. When I arrived in Melbourne, for the first time in my life, I was able to meet members of my Italian family who emigrated to Australia in the 1970s. To facilitate my administrative procedures, they very kindly agreed not only to let me use their postal address but also to forward my mail wherever I was in the country or overseas. Thanks to them, I was kept up to date, and at any time I could take the action required according to the nature of the correspondence, what a godsend!
However, as time, distance and the pandemic progressed, I had to look for an alternative to this invaluable service that allowed me to travel anywhere in Australia or overseas without having to worry about my mail.
But my search for a similar service with the current postal service providers were all fruitless.
When did Heapost become a Project?
End of 2022, the idea of setting up my own company came to mind. Indeed, while I was doing unpaid housekeeping duties in exchange for free accommodation at a backpacker hostel in downtown Perth, I came across countless mail from guests who had stayed at the hostel temporarily. Curious, I asked the owner what he thought of doing with all these mail that had been forgotten or never delivered to their addressees. He told me that there was no solution except to send them back to the sender or to get rid of them. I was horrified at the thought that potentially vital information contained in these mail would never reach their recipients. It was at this point that I decided to replicate the invaluable service I had received from my Italian-Australian family. And more I researched, more I realized, through word of mouth and messages posted on social media, the need to create a mixed physical and digital postal service like Heapost.
Why Choose Us?
Not everyone is lucky enough to have relatives or friends in Australia they can rely on to receive and resend their mail. And with the terrible housing crisis that is affecting all of Australia now, it is nigh on impossible to ensure that you receive your mail in the same location from one week to the next. This is even more true when you choose a nomadic life in your van, 4WD or motorhome.
You therefore don’t want to be kept in the dark about your mail because you can’t always receive it. And you certainly don’t want it to be accessible to malicious individuals who can open it to get hold of your personal and banking data or throw it away in your absence and without your authorization.
This is the very nature and primary objective of Heapost: to become the trusted partner you can rely on, always, throughout your stay or your life in Australia, wherever you are in the city, countryside, offshore or overseas.
